If you’re considering purchasing this kayak, then it’s definitely a wise choice to be checking out some reviews. The Hobie Mirage i9s Kayak harnesses a tonne of boat in a little package. It was designed uniquely for the would-be kayaker that doesn’t have a lot of space, but still want to spend plenty of their days fishing, kayaking or sailing.
Whilst it’s certainly not the cheapest option, you’ll probably be left wanting to rip your wallet straight out of your pocket to go ahead and buy this particular Hobie fishing kayak. The value and overall enjoyment I’ve got from this baby makes up for the price tag entirely.
I’ve skimped out on some poor quality kayak’s in my time – it’s not worth it at all. The performance I’ve got from purchases such as this aren’t paralleled by their budget-range cousins. I’m more of a hard-body man myself, but there’s a populace that will adore this craft.
However, things have changed and technology has allowed for massive improvements to such inflatables.
There’s a plethora of impressive specs, features and advantages of this model. We’ll also have a look at why somebody would want to buy this model specifically.
That means that you don’t need a whole load of storage space at home. All you’ve got to do is roll it up and throw it in the attic, closet or wherever you wish. Every time that I’ve taken this craft out, it’s impressed me. It’s incredibly responsible and maneuverable by paddle.
You can simply take it on the plane on your next journey, saving you from the huge hassle that’s involved with a lot of other recreational fishing kayaks. It’s also inclusive of a wheeled storage bag so that you’re able to drag it behind you as if it were your normal luggage.
They’ve always been handled brilliantly by the Mirage i9s, so I can’t fault it in that aspect. The agility of the craft is very reminiscent of a hard-body yak, which is something I’ve never really seen before in an inflatable. Rocky areas aren’t a problem either, it even has a power motor like nothing I have ever experienced for an inflatable.
The drop stitch floor is a massive contributor to the structure’s rigid feel and great performance. A drop stitch floor utilizes a construction method that permits for greatly increased inflation pressures. There’s thousands upon thousands of minuscule threads, connecting the bottom and top layers of the floor – allowing for a counterbalanced air pressure after inflating.
You heard me right, this Hobie kayak does not give up any portability features!
The bonus of the rolling storage bag is actually really handy as well. It’s a great little extra for anyone that’s keen on kayaking but doesn’t have a huge amount of storage or space available to them.
This is an excellent sit on top kayak for travelling. There’s roughly a 10 minute setup time, and the breakdown time is about the same. It’s always a good idea to rinse and dry the kayak prior to it being stored. Despite the fact that the Hobie Mirage i9s inflatable kayak is a little bit slower than a hard shell kayak, the comfort factor easily makes up for that.
It’s incredibly good and stable in both light surf bays and in the ocean. And to top it all off, the steering and rudder are accurate and easy to use. There’s one important thing to remember, though, get an electric air pump and save on inflating time!
And yes, as usual we have a video for you to view this beauty in action:
